Arlier - Cloutraz (Pontey)

The trail from Arlier to Cloutraz climbs the sunny hillside above Châtillon, covering 3.5 km and 515 metres from 603 m to 1067 m. The low starting point in the thermophilic belt of the central valley allows a long season: vineyards, walnut trees and Mediterranean vegetation characterise the beginning, while ascending broadleaf woodland takes over and the panorama opens across the Dora Baltea valley floor. Châtillon is the gateway to the Valtournenche; this hillside offers an unusual perspective far from tourist flows. Difficulty E, April to October.
