Overlooking the meadows of Résy, at the threshold of the Bettaforca valley, it enjoys a wide view over Champoluc and the upper Val d'Ayas. Easy to reach in any season, it is an ideal base for hikes toward the Monte Rosa 4000ers and a stop on the Alta Via 1.

History
Founded in the early 1980s by Oliviero Frachey, known as «Cirin», it carries the name of one of the historic guiding families of Ayas. Oliviero Frachey is remembered among the first to reach Punta Margherita in the Ruwenzori (1958) and for the 1952 ascent of the north face of Roccia Nera with his brother Ernesto.

What to bring
A sleeping-bag liner (required in many huts), cash (cards are often not accepted at altitude), a change of clothes and warm layers for the evening, a headlamp, a water bottle. Always book your bed and meals in advance, and let the hut know if you cancel.
What to do there
Enjoy dinner in good company and the sunset from the terrace. Many use the hut as a base for a dawn departure: ask the keeper about trail and weather conditions before setting out, and start light while the snow is still firm. The climbing routes are on the trail pages above.
