Rifugio Nacamuli al col Collon
At 2,818 metres by the Plan de Bouc, at the foot of Mont Collon and its glacier, the Nacamuli hut is the Italian base for the Col Collon — the historic pass towards Arolla and the Val d'Hérens — and for climbs in the Collon group. A severe glacial setting at the head of the Valpelline beyond the Place Moulin lake.

History
The hut, built in the 1930s and renewed over time, remembers Aldo Nacamuli, a mountaineer to whom it was dedicated by his family. It stands on one of the oldest crossings of the western Alps: people and goods were already moving over the Col Collon between the Valpelline and Valais in the Middle Ages, and finds on the glacier testify to its very long use.

What to do there
Enjoy dinner in good company and the sunset from the terrace. Many use the hut as a base for a dawn departure: ask the keeper about trail and weather conditions before setting out, and start light while the snow is still firm. The climbing routes are on the trail pages above.
