Fitness level
A short but rewarding climb through birch and chestnut woods leading to the Arpuilles plateau in the Val d'Ayas. Starting from Via delle Betulle at 619 metres, the path rises steadily through lush vegetation before opening onto the natural reserve of Lago di Villa, a protected wetland of ecological significance. Nearby stands the Castello di Villa, historic seat of the Challant family, one of the most powerful noble dynasties of the Aosta Valley throughout the Middle Ages. The combination of natural reserve and medieval heritage makes this short trail an ideal introduction to the cultural and environmental richness of the area.
