TrailS9Description

Fitness level

One of the most demanding routes in the central Aosta Valley: from Amponey at 1550 metres the trail climbs relentlessly to the Becca Trecare summit at 3032 metres, gaining nearly 1500 metres over 7.5 kilometres. The EE rating (Expert Hikers) is fully warranted — steep terrain, loose rock and grass in the upper section, and the need for autonomous navigation above 2500 metres. Snow may linger on the high flanks until June or July. The summit delivers a vast panorama over the central valley and the surrounding alpine chains. An early start and careful weather assessment are essential before attempting this route.
