Le sorgenti del Lys

A short but steep climb from Staffal to the Sources of the Lys, where the torrent that names the valley is born from the snout of the Lys glacier. It is a route of great glaciological interest: you walk on recent moraines, among polished rocks and potholes, reading the glacier's retreat of recent decades at a glance. The severe, mineral setting at the foot of the Lyskamm wall tells the story of Alpine ice dynamics and their changes better than any museum.
